Join presenter Marilyn Carminio as she showcases the lives and music of Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald, two of the greatest musicians in the history of the 20th century. With each performing over 300 concerts a year, Louis & Ella shared a common dazzling artistry, an optimism for life, and a desire to make people happy through their music. Despite their impoverished origins and the oppression of the Jim Crow south, they grew to become cultural icons who continue to hold a special place in the hearts of music lovers everywhere.

About Marilyn Carminio
Marilyn Carminio worked for many years at an international law firm where she developed and presented client service training programs. She began her career as a NYC schoolteacher and went on to hold various positions at women’s magazines such as Cosmopolitan, where she worked for Helen Gurley Brown, Elle Magazine, and New Woman. She has lectured at over 100 venues including: The Hutton House Lecture Series at C.W. Post, libraries throughout Long Island, the Roslyn Historical Society, Meadowbrook Pointe in Westbury, the Meadowbrook Women’s Initiative, Hadassah groups and women’s clubs.
Marilyn puts her heart and soul into preparing her multimedia presentations. She selects subjects for which she has a passion, which is richly conveyed through to the audience.
