Mark Demayo

2019 was a great year for comedian/actor/writer Mark DeMayo. In January he appeared as a guest-star playing George the Evidence Clerk on NBC’s Law & Order SVU and then several months later he was cast to play Det. Cortez on a brand-new show on CBS, FBI: Most Wanted. Marks popular podcast “Police Off the Cuff” was also picked up by the social media platform “Inside Blue 360” and will soon be broadcast nationwide.

When Mark is not traveling the country headlining in comedy clubs and casinos he can be found slinging jokes on NYC’s comedy stages nightly.

Mark is recognized as one of the best comedy writers and performers in the business. He gained a lot of respect from his peers and the “industry” when he performed his popular solo-show entitled “20 & Out” in the Fringe festival to critical acclaim. The show is based off his twenty years of service as a NYC Police Officer and Detective. Mark popularity then surged when he appeared as Rich the “rich guy” in the Optimum “UnMovers Season 2” commercials.

Mark has also appeared on Comedy Centrals “The Nightly Show”, AXS-TV’s “Gotham Comedy Live”, Showtimes “White Boyz In Da Hood”, MTV, VHI and Fox.

Mark was born and raised in NYC and has accent to prove it. As Mark tells it, “I wanted to play Shakespeare, but I have this heavy New York accent, so I went to a speech therapist, a good one, she was a big shot, with autographed pictures of Meryl Streep and Robert DeNiro on her office walls, after only two lessons with me, this speech therapist hands me my deposit back, she says “I can’t help you because you’re not practicing enough. I said, with all due respect ma’am, I practice all the time at home, but I can’t practice when I’m at work because I’m a NYC COP and I can’t yell after bad guys “Thou art under arrest” because they would just run away laughing at me.

When not performing his stand-up comedy act or touring Mark writes an article and produces a web-series for and works with the NYC Police Academy as an actor in the Crisis Intervention Training unit. Which teaches the uniformed members of the service how to identify and handle different types of mental illnesses radio calls.

The event is finished.
